Dries Mertens desire is to remain with Napoli despite the uncertainty surrounding his future with the club according to a report in today’s print edition of Il Mattino.

The 32-year-old Belgian’s contract with the Partenopei is due to expire at the end of the season and due this, several clubs have sparked an interest in him.

Inter are understood to be among a host of clubs to have done so and as per the report, could even make a move for him as soon as January if they need to.

Roma, Juventus, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are all quoted in the report as having shown an interest in the former PSV Eindhoven star, who has been with the Stadio San Paolo side since the Summer of 2013.

This season Mertens has made 15 appearances across all competitions. In 1067 minutes on the park, Mertens has contributed seven goals and provided two assists for his teammates.
