SPAL sporting director Davide Vagnati has as good as ruled out the possibility of Andrea Petagna leaving the club in the upcoming January transfer window.

The striker has drawn links to Inter in recent weeks and months with it understood that Inter wish to strengthen their attacking department for the second half of this season but it looks like they will have to look elsewhere.

“We must avoid relegation, that comes first. He is a very important player for us, one who makes an extraordinary impact. I think it is really difficult [to see him leave in January],” he told TuttoMercatoWeb.

As part of the interview, Vagnati was then asked whether he thinks it will be Juventus or Inter being crowned the champions of Serie A come the end of the season.

“I think Juve has a really strong squad. Like in other years they are the team to beat.”
