Pierpaolo Marino, the sporting director of Udinese, has discussed the intense media speculation in the team’s star player Rodrigo de Paul.

“At the moment there is nothing, both he and ourselves are focused on gaining results to help us improve our place in the standings. In general, I do not expect it to be a very busy January transfer market,” he told Italian radio station Radio Sportiva.

de Paul recently put pen to paper on a new and improved contract with the Bianconeri until the end of the 2023/24 season but this has not deterred clubs from showing an interest.

One such club to have shown an interest is Inter, who are keen to strengthen the midfield department in the upcoming January transfer window.

25-year-old de Paul is just one of a series of players that they are believed to be considering with the likes of Barcelona’s Arturo Vidal, Manchester United’s Nemanja Matic and Fiorentina’s Gaetano Castrovilli all linked.
