In an interview with Dutch news outlet Nos Voetbal, Inter centre back Stefan de Vrij has spoken on his relationship with fellow defender Matthijs de Ligt and also shared his thoughts on how the Netherlands are doing.

“There is a nice bond between us, it is good to see each other from time to time. I think there is a better atmosphere in the national team than in the past few years. There is more stability, you can see it from the results we are getting. We are going in the right direction,” the former Lazio player remarked.

Netherlands will play their final two EURO 2020 qualifiers over the coming days. Ronald Koeman’s side could well secure their spot at next Summer’s tournament – which will be played in a number of host cities across Europe – if they are to beat Northern Ireland this Saturday, who are currently in third, just three points behind them.
