Flamengo are anxious that Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa could have his head turned by a European team according to a report from Brazilian news outlet Extra.

The 22-year-old striker has starred whilst out on loan at the Mengao, who wish to sign him up on a permanent basis at the end of his loan, which expires at the end of next month.

As per the report, Gabigol’s representatives have already held talks with Portuguese giants Porto over a possible January transfer window switch from Inter, who he joined from Santos back in 2016.

Should European clubs come in, it could well compromise the deal in principle that Flamengo have with Inter as Inter may be able to demand more from European clubs, who are better off financially than Flamengo are.

In 52 appearances across all competitions, Gabigol has found the back of the net no less than 37 times whilst he has also provided 11 assists for teammates.
