Inter & AC Milan Thinking About Sesto San Giovanni As Site For New Stadium

Inter and AC Milan are now really thinking about the possibility of constructing their new stadium in the Sesto San Giovanni area of the city according to a report in today’s paper edition of Milanese newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

There is private land available in that area of the city, on which the clubs would be able to build as they like and would not be limited by the same constraints that they would be if they are to remain in the San Siro district.

The two clubs are understood to be seeking clarification from the relevant authorities regarding the new stadium project at San Siro.

The city council recently declared a public interest but that came with 16 conditions attached to it, which ultimately limit what the two clubs can do and will force them into changing their plans if they wish to remain in the San Siro district.

The two clubs intended to demolish San Siro entirely to make way for a commercial zone, hotels and offices among other things but it now looks like if they wish to stick around in the San Siro district, they will have to allow for San Siro to remain but it remains to be seen how it will remain and that is what the clubs want clarity on.
