In an interview which appeared in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport, Pele has spoken on Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa’s and whether he thinks the youngster can crack it in Europe.
The 22-year-old striker has been out on loan at Flamengo since January of this year and has been in simply sensational form.
Gabigol has forced his way back into the Brazilian national team and looks to have gotten his career back on track but Pele is not convinced that this means he will be a success in Europe.
“He made himself known in the Santos shirt, he went to Europe, he came back. He is a good player, I hope he has luck but it cannot be guaranteed that he will make it in Europe,” the widely regarded greatest ever to play football said.
As per various reports in the media, Inter and Flamengo already have a deal in place for Gabigol to join them permanently.
