Atletico Madrid are ready to table a €40 million offer to Barcelona for midfielder Ivan Rakitic according to Spanish broadcaster Movistar+.

Atleti manager Diego Simeone is a big fan of the Croatian midfielder, who has fallen right down the pecking order at the Blaugrana this season and who will likely leave the club one way or another in the upcoming January transfer window for pastures new.

The Rojiblancos are not the only club to have shown an interest in signing the former Sevilla player, who has been with Barcelona since 2014 and is under contract until the end of next season.

As per the report, Atletico will have to fend off competition from Inter, Juventus and AC Milan for the 31-year-old’s signature.

The 106 time Croatian international has been limited to just 255 minutes on the park across 10 appearances this season in all competitions, in which he has managed to provide a single assist.
