Inter Defender Bastoni: “Thankful To Conte For The Chances He’s Given Me, We Want To Win All Our Games”

In an interview with Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset, Alessandro Bastoni has provided an update on his condition after sustaining an injury.

“I suffered a blow against Hellas Verona and together with the national team we decided it was best for me to go back to Appiano Gentile for treatment. For the next week I will follow a personalised training schedule, we will see next week how it will go,” he said.

He also shared his gratitude for manager Antonio Conte.

I certainly didn’t expect it. I have to thank the coach for the chances he has given me, he is helping me to grow both mentally and technically, every time he trusts me I try to repay him in the best way. Is he as big of a drill sergeant as they say? Not even that much. He’s a great coach, he knows when to use the carrot and when to use the stick.”

He then downplayed the idea that Inter can win the Serie A title.

“We do not look at the others, we look at ourselves. We work day by day to improve ourselves and to do better and better, then what will happen at the end of the year we will evaluate it. Our goal is to win all the matches, it will be difficult but we are aiming for this. Is it forbidden to speak about the Scudetto? Absolutely yes.”

He concluded by speaking on the Champions League and upcoming run of fixtures.

“It won’t be easy but until  the maths say otherwise, we will fight for every ball. The run of fixtures coming up? We have shown that we are ready for this, even in the second half with Verona we showed that it is not a physical problem for us.”
