Well-known Italian journalist Bruno Longhi discussed Inter striker Romelu Lukaku’s start to the season with the Nerazzurri when speaking to Italian radio station Radio Sportiva today.

“The discussions about him arrived in the first days, when his way of presenting himself had raised many doubts. He’s actually a good player: he knows how to score and he’s communicating well with his teammates at Inter. Mertens? I have some doubts about whether there is a negotiation.”

The 26-year-old Belgian striker joined the Nerazzurri from Premier League side Manchester United this summer and has quickly become one of the most lethal strikers in Serie A. He has scored nine goals in 12 league appearances for Inter, forming a formidable partnership with 22-year-old Argentine forward Lautaro Martinez.

Lukaku has scored six goals in his last five league appearances for Inter, suggesting that he is finally starting to reach the fitness level required by coach Antonio Conte. He is contracted to Inter until 2024.
