Inter defender Stefan De Vrij is set to be on the bench for the sixth Netherlands game in a row as coach Ronald Koeman continues to overlook the Nerazzurri player, according to a report from FCInterNews.it.

The report details how the Oranje are desperate for a victory tonight against Northern Ireland tonight as they look to qualify for next summer’s European Championships. They have missed the last two major tournaments, Euro 2016 and the 2018 World Cup in Russia, and so are incredibly keen on returning to the international stage next summer.

However, despite the importance of today’s game, Koeman is still likely to leave Inter’s De Vrij on the bench. The 27-year-old defender hasn’t appeared for his country since a 1-1 draw against Belgium in a friendly over a year ago. He has 37 caps for his country since his first appearance in 2012.

Probable Netherlands Lineup (4-3-3): Jasper Cillessen; Joel Veltman, Virgil Van Dijk, Matthijs De Ligt, Daley Blind; Wijnaldum, Frenkie De Jong, Donny Van de Beek; Qunicy Promes, Luuk De Jong, Ryan Babel.
