Inter coach Antonio Conte was threatened in a letter sent to Inter a few days ago, although the 50-year-old Italian is reportedly “unnerved”, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report details how there is no sporting motivations behind the threat, and it seems to be a baseless threat simply intended to scare Conte. However, due to the seriousness of the threat and the fact that a shotgun bullet was attached, an investigation carried out by the Prosecutor’s Office of Milan has been started, headed up by head of Milanese counterterrorism Alberto Nobili.

The immediate consequence of the threat, the report highlights, is what’s called “dynamic vigilance”. This means that there are no police escorts for either the club or Conte, due to the low chance of any real danger occurring. However, some police patrols and carabinieri have started patrolling the area surrounding his house and the club’s offices with greater frequency.

Inter president Steven Zhang has asked to be kept updated on the situation, the report continues, and the 50-year-old Italian coach is “unnerved” about the threat, showing his tough attitude both on and off the pitch.
