Inter defender Stefan de Vrij was excluded from the Netherlands’ match day squad against Northern Ireland in their Euro 2020 qualifying game yesterday, with a report from today’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper suggesting that he may leave the national team camp soon.

The report details how the 27-year-old Dutch defender is suffering from fatigue, but not a serious injury. However, due to his exclusion and lack of 100% match fitness, he may leave the national team’s camp before their next match at home against Estonia on Tuesday.

De Vrij has struggled for international caps under coach Ronald Koeman, having failed to appear even a single time for his country so far in 2019. The last game he played for the Netherlands was in a friendly against Belgium last October, over a year ago.

For Inter though, De Vrij is one of the best defenders in Serie A at the moment.
