Inter’s medical director Piero Volpi spoke about the injured Alexis Sanchez in an interview in today’s paper edition of the Chilean newspaper La Cuarta.

“We’ve worked very well with Alexis. The injury he suffered requires special attention, but the recovery was very positive. The stages we set with Inter were fully respected. Do we keep the same date for the return? Yes, mid-January, but we’ll see later. Maybe Alexis will come back a little earlier, if all goes well. After the end of the year examinations we will have more certainty. He hasn’t come back to train with the ball yet, but we’re expecting some developments in the next few days. Everything is going well.”

The 30-year-old Chilean joined Inter on a loan deal from Premier League Manchester United in the summer, and only made four Inter appearances before suffering a peroneus tendon injury whilst on international duty. In those four games he scored one goal and provided one assist.
