Inter Primavera midfielder Lucien Agoume spoke to French media outlet L’Equipe following the French Under-17 squad’s 3-1 win over Netherlands in the 3rd match playoff of the Under 17 World Cup.

“A medal is no small thing, we beat a great team that is the reigning European champion, this means that we are close to being the best European nation in this competition.”

“We need to make the most of this third place, but I have to admit that we wanted to reach the final to win. We are France, a key nation. We always have the ambition to win every competition. Third place is fine, but we were hoping for something better.”

The 17-year-old Frenchman then touched on the yellow card suspension that caused him to miss the semi-final.

“I feel responsible for that defeat as much as my teammates, I’m the one who received that yellow against Spain. I could have avoided it, it was a youthful mistake.”

“However, this World Cup was a great adventure, with formidable people. Five unforgettable weeks, I will remember everything.”

Finally, Agoume spoke about his return to Milan to re-join the Inter Primavera squad.

“Now I will go back to Milan and work. I’m still young, I’m 17 years old. If I don’t play among the first team players this year it won’t be a problem, the time will come. My goal is to improve my training and see what happens at the end of the season.”
