Inter Treble Hero Dejan Stankovic Could Take Up A Role With The Nerazzurri Youth Set Up

Inter hero Dejan Stankovic is close to a return to the Nerazzurri, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

The report details how the 41-year-old Serbian is close to accepting a role within Inter’s youth system following on from his work as an assistant coach at the club in the 2015/16 season. So far, he still hasn’t been assigned a clear role, the report highlights.

Stankovic, who is currently working as an advisor for UEFA, made 326 appearances for the Nerazzurri across a nine-year spell with the club, where he retired in 2013. He scored 42 goals and provided 42 assists in that time, being a core part of the squad that won the famous Treble in the 2009/10 season.

Interestingly, Stankovic is also the only player to have appeared in three different World Cups with three different nations. He appeared in the 1998 World Cup with Yugoslavia, followed up by an appearance in the 2006 World Cup with Serbia and Montenegro, before finally appearing for Serbia in the 2010 World Cup.
