Inter Midfielder Nicolo Barella: “Most Important Thing Roberto Mancini Asked Us Was To Get People Watching Italy Again”

Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella spoke to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset following the Azzurri’s 9-1 win over Armenia last night in their final Euro 2020 qualifier.
“The most important thing Mancini asked us was to get people to watch the national team again. Now we’re playing well, then the victories come and it’s even better. The secret? The squad, a mix of young and experienced players who have the confidence of the coach.”
The 22-year-old Italian spoke about his different mindsets with his club, Inter, and the national team.
“When I come to the national team, I take a break, I’m only thinking of helping my team-mates. From tomorrow we think about Inter again, I’m ready.”
Barella made his Italy debut under current coach Roberto Mancini last year and has already made 12 caps for the Azzurri. In that time he’s scored three goals and provided two assists, all in the qualifying campaign for next summer’s European Championships.
