Inter owned striker Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa has the opportunity to be a hero for Brazilian side Flamengo in the upcoming Copa Libertadores against River Plate this weekend, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

The report details how the 23-year-old Brazilian striker, on loan from the Nerazzurri to Flamengo, has the opportunity to guide the club to their second ever Copa Libertadores trophy. The club last won it in 1981. Furthermore, if Palmeiras don’t beat Gremio on Sunday, then Flamengo will also win the Brazilian league.

Once the final games of the season are completed, the report highlights, then more definitive negotiations between Inter and Flamengo for Gabigol can begin. The parties have already reached an agreement of around €20 million plus bonuses, as well as the inclusion of a percentage of a future resale of the player. The only thing remaining to fully finalise the deal is the agreement of Gabigol with Flamengo.
