Inter owned forward Ivan Perisic, currently on loan with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, discussed his man of the match performance in Croatia’s 2-1 friendly win over Georgia yesterday to the official Croatian football federation website.

“It was important to win and do our best in the last game of the year. We talked about it in the locker room before the start of the game because it would have been bad to lose after qualifying for the European Championships. True, we scored a goal, but we showed character and won.”

The 30-year-old Croatian forward then touched on Croatia’s thoughts and preparations for next summer’s European Championships.

“Croatia have nothing to fear, we have many valid alternatives in all roles and now we are preparing for the European Championships. I hope we’ll play as many games as possible.”

Perisic made his 87th cap with his national team in yesterday’s game. He was part of the historic squad that reached the World Cup finals last summer in Russia.
