Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella discussed his performance in Italy’s 9-1 win over Armenia on Monday to Italian broadcaster VivoAzzurro, where he scored a goal.

“The coach asks us to play well, then the results come from playing well. We’re happy, this is a great squad made up of a mix of young players and more experienced players who give us confidence and we’re happy. Surely there are more difficult matches, but we have to be ready, we’re Italy and we have to do well.”

The 22-year-old Italian made his international debut under coach Roberto Mancini last year and has quickly become a core member of the squad, owing to his strong performances both with Inter and the Italian national team.

He has scored three goals and provided two assists in Italy’s Euro 2020 qualifying campaign, regularly impressing with his consistently strong performances. He is one of the players most tipped to be a star for the Azzurri next summer.
