Inter are waiting until they are sure of the physical condition of Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez in January before attempting to sign Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

The report details how the Nerazzurri are convinced by the 33-year-old Frenchman and would like to sign him in January, but they don’t want to be overloaded with both forwards and players on high wages. Therefore, despite regular assessments and discussions with the South London club about the World Cup winner, they are waiting for a more detailed understanding of Sanchez’s physical condition.

Inter don’t want to sign Giroud, the report continues, if he will be behind Alexis Sanchez in the club’s picking order, as then it would be wasted funds, which the Nerazzurri management are keen to keep on top of. The 33-year-old French striker is also wanted by clubs in China, so if Inter don’t sign him in January then he is still likely to leave the South London club before his contract expires next June.
