AC Milan chairman Paolo Scaroni replied to City of Milan mayor Beppe Sala’s words on Inter and AC Milan’s new stadium project in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia today.

“The law of stadiums, the ones on which our project is based, provides that there are also real estate initiatives. Re-functionalisation? I went to look up the meaning in the dictionary, it means many things. We expect that from the desired meetings the word will be filled with content. We will see if it is compatible with our project from a sporting and economic-financial point of view.”

Scaroni then touched on how long the two clubs are expecting this stage to take.

“One month or two months is a reasonable time, we certainly expect a certain and clear process because we have to take decisions. If we have problems, there will be other ideas.”

Both Inter and AC Milan were hoping to demolish the existing San Siro in order to make space for their proposed new stadiums, an idea that was squashed by the City Council recently.
