Inter and AC Milan are debating how to ‘re-functionalisation’ the existing San Siro, with mayor of Milan Beppe Sala’s words about the first ring providing an opportunity for the Milanese clubs, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Turin based newspaper Tuttosport.

The report details how Sala has suggested that the clubs only focus on the first ring of the stadium, which hosts around 26 thousand seats, rather than looking at renovating the whole stadium. This provides an opportunity to both the Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri, as now they can begin work on a new economic and financial plan focusing on renovations to the first ring.

The idea, the report continues, is that the existing San Siro will be used for other sporting projects in the future, such as women’s football. By focusing on the first ring, both clubs can lower the amount of work needed to be done on the stadium.
