Former Barcelona goalkeeper Vitor Baia, who was at the Catalan club when Ronaldo was sold to Inter in the summer of 1997, discussed the player in an interview with Brazilian media outlet UOL Esporte.

“He was a player of another dimension. It was a shame that he decided to leave Barcelona and go to Inter. The work in Italy is different from what you do in Spain from a physical point of view. I don’t think he would have had the problems he had in Milan.”

The Brazilian striker made 98 appearances for the Nerazzurri in his five years with the club, although it was a period dominated by injuries. The forward only made 24 appearances in his last three seasons with the club, due to a patella rupture that forced him to miss 86 games for the Milanese club.

Ronaldo helped Inter win a UEFA cup in his first season with the club.
