Inter coach Antonio Conte discussed the Nerazzurri’s 3-0 win in the Serie A over Torino last night in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia.

“I’m happy for the players, when you work in an important way you have to get results. I’m happy because they’re getting good results.”

“Today we didn’t even concede, we’re back flying high as we were at the start of the season. Well, now we need to recover our strength and prepare for the next game.”

He touched on the striking partnership of Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez. Both players scored in last night’s win.

“They are unfinished players, they can still improve, they are 22 and 26 years old, they can potentially do good for Inter for the next 6-7 years.”

“You start to have a foundation, certainties for the future and around that you can build with stronger and stronger players. They’re two guys who are doing well, they also help in the defensive phase of the game, but let’s not forget that if they get to goal there’s the support of midfielders, of the wingers and full backs.”

“Let’s think of Brozovic’s ball, a great pass played by a player who also has room for growth. People like Borja Valero or Dimarco then had the chance to enter in a delicate part of the game, Borja is a serious guy who has always worked quietly making himself ready.”

“It’s right to point out that we also have these good guys who deserved to play, Dimarco deserved to debut for the work he was doing without ever complaining.”

The 50-year-old Italian coach then spoke about what the Nerazzurri can still do to improve.

“We know that we have to work as a team, so we can achieve important results like we are doing now. Those who are ahead of us are doing something incredible but we are one point behind and we are doing something beautiful and something that was unthinkable at the beginning.”

“Thanks to the guys, but there’s always work to be done, lately we’ve been working on the defensive part of the game, but beyond the results the satisfaction I have is going to the training ground and having a squad that makes themselves available to me, who work with desire.”

“Seeing Borja Valero’s performance or Dimarco’s debut confirms a healthy and clean squad that is doing good things.”

The former Juventus and Chelsea coach then discussed the Nerazzurri’s next game against Slavia Prague on Wednesday.

“We go from game to game, now we have an important match against Slavia Prague, we have had good chances that we could have used better given the performances, now we just have to win, we’ll go there to give everything and have no regrets.”

“These guys, due to their desire and self-sacrifice, leave me calm. I know that we will give everything, but I don’t know how it will end.”

Finally, Conte briefly touched on Italian midfielder Nicolo Barella, who limped off the pitch just before the end of the first half.

“He was taken off because of an injury, he’s important for us, he’s grown a lot, hopefully it won’t be anything serious. He’s a warrior and as such must be ready for the next battle.”
