Inter CEO Beppe Marotta’s top two midfield transfer targets in the upcoming January transfer window are Udinese’s Rodrigo De Paul and Roma captain Alessandro Florenzi, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Turin based newspaper Tuttosport.

The report details how Marotta recognises the lack of midfield depth in the squad, a situation highlighted even further with the injury to 22-year-old Italian midfielder Nicolo Barella near the end of the first half in yesterday’s 3-0 win over Torino.

Therefore, Marotta is hoping to acquire either De Paul or Florenzi in January in order to provide more squad depth and give coach Antonio Conte more options. Whilst Atalanta owned midfielder Dejan Kulusevski has also been identified by Marotta, the difficulty of acquiring him in January has left the Nerazzurri to look for other options.

Florenzi has been unhappy with the low amount of playing time he’s received this season under coach Paulo Fonseca, and may consider a move away from the Giallorossi if the situation doesn’t improve in the run up to Christmas.
