Italian referee Fabio Maresca didn’t have a terrible performance officiating the Nerazzurri’s 3-0 win over Torino last night, although he could have done better, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport.
The report highlights how the 38-year-old Naples born referee didn’t make any glaring errors in last night’s game, correctly allowing every goal and waving away any penalty claims from both teams. He blew his whistle for 28 fouls in the game, 18 of them against Inter and ten against the Granata.
However, he may have been a little card happy, the report continues. He gave five yellow cards in the game, with three of them going to Inter players, namely Milan Skriniar, Danilo D’Ambrosio and Lautaro Martinez. The majority of these cautions seemed a little harsh, the report adds.
Maresca previously officiated two Inter games this season, the Nerazzurri’s 2-1 win over Cagliari in September and Inter’s 1-0 win over Lazio later that month.
