Flamengo are in a real hurry to close a deal for Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa according to a report in today’s print edition of La Repubblica.
The 23-year-old striker has been in sensational form since joining on loan back in January and fired them to their first Copa Libertadores title in 38 years at the weekend as his double helped the Mengao to a 2-1 win over River Plate.
Flamengo had a chance to close a deal for €22 million a month ago but decided against doing so in order to not cause any distractions but this decision means they will have to pay at least €10 million more if they wish to keep a hold of Gabigol permanently.
Inter are meanwhile in no rush to sell the striker who has plenty of interest in his services from elsewhere. Crystal Palace, West Ham, Porto, Real Valladolid and Fiorentina are all also believed to be keen on signing him.
