Nicolo Barella will miss Inter’s next six matches at least with him set to go under the knife after sustaining an injury this past weekend according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Italian international midfielder damaged his knee in the 3-0 triumph away to Torino and it now remains to be seen what Inter manager Antonio Conte will do.

Roberto Gagliardini could well return to the starting line-up in place of Barella for Wednesday night’s crucial Champions League tie away to Slavia Prague but Borja Valero could well be called upon instead given he was the player that Conte turned to to replace Barella on Saturday.

The report from the Milan based news outlet does go on to state however that even Antonio Candreva could be used as a central midfielder.

Candreva has primarily played as a wing back this season but saw some action in the middle of the park at the end of Saturday’s game.
