Giovanni Malago, the president of the Italian Olympic committee, has urged Milan city council officials and the two Milanese clubs to keep the 2026 Italian Olympics in mind when it comes to their ongoing dialogue relating to the future of San Siro.

Inter and AC Milan were recently giving the green light for their new stadium project but it still remains to be seen what will happen with their current San Siro stadium.

The two clubs initially planned to demolish it entirely but reports in the media lately suggest that the historic stadium will be remaining in some capacity.

“We have included San Siro as the venue for the opening ceremony. It is said that San Siro could remain as is, could be refursbished or demolished. Any kind of work must take into account the deadline, it is no small matter,” Malago exclaimed at an event in Milan earlier on today.
