Only three strike partnerships/strikers in Europe have scored at a better rate than Inter’s striking duo of Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez, a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Belgian and Argentine are scoring a goal between at a rate of 1.22 per game on average with only Bayern Munich, Manchester City and RB Leipzig strikers bettering that.

The report states that no partnership in the past 30 years at Inter has managed to score at such a rate and the two could well set a new record for goals scored come the end of the season, should they manage to keep it up.

Aldo Serena and Ramon Diaz scored 43 goals in 43 games, an average of a goal a game, the same rate that Mauro Icardi and Ivan Perisic managed during the 2017/18 season.

The Milanese newspaper also report that Inter are working on signing Lautaro Martinez down to a new contract. Inter have already knocked back Barcelona and are keen to eliminate the €111 million release clause in his current contract.
