Inter are looking to sign Fiorentina star Federico Chiesa in the upcoming January transfer window, ready to offer a high fee for the 22-year-old Italian forward, according to a report from Italian broadcaster SportMediaset.

The report details how the Nerazzurri are following up a request from coach Antonio Conte, who asked for Chiesa last summer, identifying his tactical and technical strengths and his ability to fit the 50-year-old Italian’s tactical system. Conte is convinced that the 22-year-old Italian would work well in a 3-4-3 or 3-4-2-1 formation.

Whilst initially the Nerazzurri were working to make an offer for the Fiorentina forward next summer, due to squad’s reduced strength and low levels of depth, as well as the team’s strong standings in the league table, they are ready to launch an assault in January, the report highlights.

Inter are hoping to offer €40 million in cash for the 22-year-old as well as 26-year-old Italian forward Matteo Politano. The Milanese squad are hoping the majority of that capital can be generated by the sale of Brazilian striker Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa, the report adds.
