Inter CEO Beppe Marotta discussed the Nerazzurri’s season so far, their work on the transfer market and Juventus’ 2-2 draw against Sassuolo in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia.
First, Marotta discussed the cheer inside the San Siro after the full-time whistle in Juventus’ draw against Sassuolo.
“We’re used to these things, we must be focused on today’s challenge in a pitch complicated by the rain. The real test is what has to happen this afternoon.”
The CEO then spoke about the Nerazzurri squad and the work carried out by coach Antonio Conte.
“Examinations are held every Sunday, every game regardless of the opponent’s strength. I’m sure Conte can keep the pressure high. Fate depends on us and not on the others. At the moment he is not happy due to his limited options in midfield, but I’m sure that all the players that Conte will put on the pitch will give their best. Antonio is a very good professional, he knows how to motivate his players. He prepares for the games very well, he knows what he has to do on his own.”
Marotta touched on Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal and the Nerazzurri’s work on the transfer market.
“Vidal’s an important player on the world stage and Conte and I are tied to him for our great past together, we have great considerations of him. I think a lot of teams would like to sign him, unfortunately he’s at Barcelona, then surely thoughts can be made, in a sector that unfortunately due to injuries is suffering. We have a somewhat smaller squad than the other teams in the competitions we compete in, but this is part of the growth process.”
Finally, Marotta discussed the condition of Italian midfielder Stefano Sensi.
“We’re trying to understand his condition in greater depth, it’s a muscle problem, so it’s more difficult to diagnose. We’ll look into it, but I’m confident because it’s something we’re going to look at in greater depth.”
