Inter are top of the league after day 14 of the 2019/2020 Serie A season, after the Nerazzurri defeated SPAL at home 2-1 whilst Juventus drew 2-2 at home against Sassuolo.

Samir Handanovic – 6: In the first half the rain ruined the best seat in the house to watch Conteball. Maybe caught a cold on the goal. Then stayed calm to guide the defence.

Danilo D’Ambrosio – 6: Strong, stable. Poor goal attempt where he should be getting a shot on target, but its not his main job. Still not 100% and his passing needs work.

Stefan de Vrij – 6: If you are looking for consistent, world class central defending in a back line of 3, Stefan is the man for the job. Too slow to react to Valoti dribbling.

Milan Skriniar – 7: SPAL didn’t challenge him much so he decided to show that he can pass the ball as well. Defending was solid as usual, kept him calm throughout.

Valentino Lazaro – 6.5: Great set piece taker and his ability to dribble past players at pace is something Inter’s squad lacks. The second half showed where he can improve.

Roberto Gagliardini – 6.5: Gagliardini is Conte’s pet project and in games like this he can win important balls that lead to goals like Inter’s second. Hopefully his injury isn’t serious.

Marcelo Brozovic – 7: When the opponent backs off a player like Marcelo, it can only mean that he will produce a masterclass. SPAL didn’t let that repeat in the second half.

Matis Vecino – 6: Not much quality but provided some quality and stability on the right side of the pitch. When the clock strikes 85′ the best version always comes out.

Antonio Candreva – 6.5: Ran from the first minute and was involved in almost all attacking moves. Some beautiful crosses throughout and ran out of steam after an hour.

Lautaro Martinez – 7.5 : The renewal better be around the corner. World class all round striker. This game saw all the best things Lautaro brings. Should have had a hat trick.

Romelu Lukaku – 7 : Involved right from the go. Didn’t produce the same quality as midweek in the first half but made up for it in the second. World class and confident.

Cristiano Biraghi – 6: Brought some much needed running towards the end. Managed to trouble SPAL by picking pockets as well. Positive impact off the bench.

Diego Godin – N/A: Conte brought Godin on to deal with the extra physicality that came with Floccari. Apart from a misplaced long ball he did everything required.

Borja Valero – N/A: Didn’t miss a single pass and was fouled a few times as he helped Inter withstand the last bit of pressure from SPAL. Not a bad option to throw on for 10 minutes.

Antonio Conte – 7.5: Conte knew the result from Turin and in a game where many Inter sides in the past would drop points, he managed to produce an important result.

Massimiliano Irrati – 6.5: First half was decent. Used VAR well, made balanced calls and neither coach or set of players could complain about any major decision. Rarity.

Inter – 7: Top of the league. This was a difficult game after a mid week trip and the injuries in midfield. The team spirit is shining through. Ugly win was needed.
