Inter captain and goalkeeper Samir Handanovic was named the best goalkeeper for the 2018/19 season at Serie A’s annual awards ceremony which took place last night.

Upon receiving his award, which comes after he kept a highly impressive 17 clean sheets last term, he spoke on the team’s current position as league leaders in Serie A.

“It is normal at the moment that we are happy to be in this position in the table but we are not even halfway through the season. We believe in ourselves and that is enough. My heart is black and blue,” the Slovenian shot-stopper remarked on the stage.

The 35-year-old goalkeeper has proved ever-reliable in all his years with the club and has undoubtedly helped Inter to win many many points with his heroics inbetween the sticks.

This season he has been ever present appearing in each of Inter’s 19 games across all competitions in which he has kept five clean sheets.
