Lautaro Martinez is the best performing strike this season born in the year 1997 across Europe’s top five leagues according to a report in today’s print edition of Milanese newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 22-year-old has netted 13 goals across all competitions this season in 19 appearances, four more goals than he managed in the entirety of last season.

Lautaro is one of several young strikers to have starred this season and has the second best goals to minutes played ratio with only Red Bull Salzburg wonderkid Erling Braut Haaland managing to do better than him.

The report goes on to state that many clubs are likely to come in for Lautaro in the Summer of 2020 and insists than Inter will have to do what they can in order to deter the interest in him.

Despite being under contract until 2023 already, a new and improved deal to reflect his newfound status has been heavily speculated about in the media in recent weeks.
