Rodrigo de Paul is Inter manager Antonio Conte’s number one goal to strengthen the midfield in the upcoming January transfer window according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.

The Argentine midfielder is currently on the books of Udinese and if between now and January they create a bigger cushion between themselves and the relegation zone, it will make it easier for Inter to sign him.

Recent performances suggest he has very little desire to stick around with Udinese and he could be allowed to move for between €30 and €35 million. The report also claims that the player would be open to a move to Inter and has a deep respect for Conte and vice-president Javier Zanetti.

Inter could offer Federico Dimarco on a permanent basis as part of any deal to bring the cost down. Alternatively, they could offer Primavera talent Lucien Agoume on loan for the rest of the season.

Inter tried for de Paul last January and his agent has remained in contact with Nerazzurri management since and it is thought that there will be next to no problems when it comes to agreeing personal terms.
