Romelu Lukaku’s agent Federico Pastorello has opened up on what led his client to joining Inter this past Summer from Premier League side Manchester United.

“The relationship with Ole Solskjaer was good at the end. There were some problems tactically because he is a real 9 and sometimes the coach preferred another fantastic player like Marcus Rashford instead,” he told British broadcaster Sky Sports.

“The transfer itself was not really tied to any particular problem with Manchester United but was down to the fact he wanted to try something new.

“He was happy at Manchester United and really liked the fans. Playing for them was fantastic for him and he was about to do it but I think he wanted to test himself in another league, he needed another challenge.”

Lukaku has 11 goals for Inter since joining and Pastorello concluded: “If I told you I’m not surprised, I would be lying to you.

“I had no doubt that Romelu would have been a success once he arrived in Serie A but what he has done has surprised me. At the beginning things are always complicated usually so it is really incredible for him to have had such a positive impact.”
