Inter owned striker Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa is dreaming of a move to the Premier League to join Liverpool and work alongside his friend, Roberto Firmino, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the British tabloid the Sun.
The report details how the 23-year-old Brazilian striker, who scored 34 goals and provided 11 assists in 40 appearances for Flamengo this season, doesn’t wish to remain in Brazil with the club and instead would prefer a return to Europe.
Liverpool were interested in Gabigol in 2017, and his friendship with club hero Firmino may facilitate good discussions between the Nerazzurri and the English club for a potential deal.
The two players will meet in the upcoming Club World Cup, and Gabigol spoke highly of the Liverpool striker.
“Firmino? He is a powerful striker and has been exceptional with Brazil. He’s a source of inspiration for me. It would be a pleasure to play with him. Maybe we could have the opportunity with Brazil in the future, Liverpool is a team that everyone wants to play for. But at the moment it’s difficult to talk about it. My focus is totally on the Club World Cup.”
