Inter centre back Stefan de Vrij has insisted that he and his teammates need to get on with things now that they have been eliminated from the Champions League.
“There is a lot of disappointment having failed to progress in the competition, but we have no regrets. We have given everything and created many chances for ourselves but it was not enough,” he explained in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia post-match.
The Dutch international was then asked where he thinks things went wrong across the Champions League campaign for the team.
“It is useless to look back. We now need to pick ourselves back up and look forward. Things like this must make us stronger. We look forward, we will continue on our journey and we will try to win the next matches that we play.”
de Vrij was an ever present feature in Inter’s Champions League campaign playing in all 540 minutes, during which he tallied one assist.
