Barcelona Manager Valverde: “Inter Got Increasingly Irritable & It Affected Their Performance”

In an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde explained where he thinks it went wrong for Inter against his much rotated Blaugrana side, who ran out 2-1 winners at San Siro in the final Champions League group stage match.

“Inter pressed us well early on and kept us pinned back, but we emerged over time. I think they were increasingly irritable because the goal wasn’t coming and they had three ruled offside, so it got to them,” he said.

“Inter without doubt are good enough to go through to the Champions League last 16, as they played so well for example in the first half at Camp Nou and then in Dortmund.”

Valverde, who has been in charge of the Catalan giants since May 2017, concluded: “I think the anxiety of the goal that was not coming in the second half got to them and affected their performance.”
