Barcelona management are currently weighing up whether to make a move for Inter’s Lautaro Martinez in the Summer transfer window according to a report from Spanish news outlet AS.
The Blaugrana are on the lookout for a long term replacement for ageing striker Luis Suarez and have identified 22-year-old Argentine international Martinez as a player who could do just that.
Lautaro has a €111 million release clause in his contract and the report highlights that this can only be activated in the first two weeks of July.
Barcelona have been watching him closely for some time and his two performances against them in the Champions League group stages have left them further impressed.
The report also goes on to state that Barcelona believe they could really take advantage of Martinez’s relationship with their star man Lionel Messi. They believe that should Messi ask his compatriot to join him in Catalonia then he would.
