Inter vice-president Javier Zanetti has shared his belief in the team following their elimination from the Champions League last night following a 2-1 loss at home to a much-rotated Barcelona side.

“I feel sorry for the players, for Conte and for the fans. We must immediately get up, be resilient as Inter always is. Sometimes you give everything but it is still not enough, yesterday was not enough,” he is quoted as saying by news agency ANSA at an event earlier on today.

“This should not affect the path that we are taking, now we have to get up right away because we have an important match on Sunday. We hope to recover important players and learn from our defeats. I grew from the defeats I had in my career.”

He concluded: “We must continue on this path and remain convinced and aware that we are on the right track and I am sure that at end of the season something important will happen. With this team and manager we can start thinking about creating something important.”
