Noted Italian journalist Mario Sconcerti has shared his opinion on Inter’s exit from the Champions League in his weekly editorial in the print edition of Milanese newspaper Corriere della Sera.
“Inter’s elimination was not unlucky. You cannot go through if you lose three out of six games. It was not only yesterday’s match with Barcelona that eliminated them. There was a fairly clear inequality to their European opponents,” he began his column.
“Inter often find themselves in difficult when facing more technical opponents, it happened versus Juventus, twice against Barcelona and also happened against Roma a few days ago. It is no accident. Inter are not yet at the heights required. They do not have the quality to stop good opponents.”
Sconcerti concluded by stating that the elimination may not be all that bad for Inter.
“Maybe exiting the Champions League will serve Inter well. They could gain more European experience playing in the Europa League.”
