In an interview with Brazilian news outlet Globo Esporte, Flamengo president Rodolfo Landim has admitted he remains hopeful that the side can sign Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa on a permanent deal.
The 23-year-old Brazilian striker has been on loan at the Rio de Janeiro based club since January and has been in fantastic form scoring 43 goals in 57 appearances to date.
“We have started primary conversation and these have went positively. We like him as do the fans and the staff of the club. There is a great relationship between him and our fans,” Landim began.
“I think he is happy here and this will be important in his decision making process. I do not think he can be happier than he is here elsewhere. I hope it all ends well.”
As per various reports in the media, the two clubs have an agreement in principle over the his transfer but it all depends on him. Gabigol has been clear that he does not wish to talk on his future until the end of the season.
