Inter legend Riccardo Ferri has sang the praises of Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta, a year on from his appointment as Inter’s chief executive.
“Marotta is a top director. He brought a certain mentality, a lot of contacts and experience to Inter. Bringing him in as chief executive was great for Inter,” he told Milanese newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
Ferri then commented on Marotta and Inter management’s decision to move Mauro Icardi on this Summer despite all the goals he had scored for the club.
“It was the right thing to do because the team must always come before the individual.”
Ferri, who spent 13 years on Inter’s books between 1981 and 1994, then discussed what he feels Inter need to do.
“Inter must increase the depth of the team. Inter have found themselves in an inconceivable situation as they find themselves ahead in the league.”
After 16 games played, Inter currently find themselves at the top of the Serie A table having picked up 38 points from a possible 48. They are two points ahead of arch-rivals Juventus, who are in second.
