Inter legend Aldo Serena has sang the praises of Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta with today marking a year to the day since Marotta joined Inter.

“Giuseppe Marotta has worked with lucidity and methodically. He chose a coach in Antonio Conte who reflects his ideas,” he said in an interview with Milanese newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Serena was then asked if he agreed with Marotta’s decision in the Summer transfer window to get rid of Mauro Icardi, Ivan Perisic and Radja Nainggolan.

“I would have tried to have kept Radja Nainggolan.”

Serena, who spent 11 years on Inter’s books across multiple spells, then spoke on Lautaro Martinez, whose form this season has led to heightened speculation that his future lies elsewhere with Barcelona seemingly interested in him.

“It would be a shame for the strike partnership between Lautaro and Lukaku to break up. These days, price tags and salaries are out of this world, even for players who have only been a starter for a few months.”

In conclusion he was asked about the January transfer window.

“I am sure that two or three players will arrive in January.”
