The Order of Journalists and the Sports Press Union have both written a response to the decision of Inter to cancel their press match conference today ahead of tomorrow’s league clash against Fiorentina due to an article in yesterday’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, according to Italian news outlet ANSA today.
“The respect that the football world proclaims on their shirts is a serious thing. If it were a game, the pinball machine would have gone into tilt here. Speak immediately to the Federal Prosecutor’s Office, because to say that the attitude of Mr. Conte, the Inter coach, is unacceptable, only masks the indignation and his behavior remains without any consequences.”
The response continued, condemning the decision.
“We need measures imposed as we had the opportunity when speaking in recent days at a seminar of journalists, in the presence of President Gravina. Article 21 of the constitution comes before every law and every federal charter. Not accepting the criticism of the individual would be deplorable in itself, however we speak of a highly esteemed information professional, a master.”
Finally, the note concluded, asking for an apology from Antonio Conte.
“To arrive at the arrogance of wanting to punish the press as a whole, by cancelling the planned press conference without prior notice with colleagues already on location, is also offensive to ordinary citizens, the recipients of information in a democracy, which cannot go unpunished.”
“On the one hand we expect formal apologies from Antonio Conte in the post-game interviews, on the other hand we also ask what you think of the behaviour of a millionaire employee, in a team as glorious as Inter.”
