Inter defender Diego Godin will not start against Fiorentina tonight, due to a muscular discomfort suffered after the Nerazzurri’s disappointing 2-1 defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League earlier this week, according to a report in today’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport.
The report details how the 33-year-old Uruguayan defender suffered the discomfort after the game, which hasn’t fully disappeared. This means that he will be on the bench for tonight’s league clash against Fiorentina, allowing 20-year-old Italian defender Alessandro Bastoni to start in his place.
This is the only change from the line-up that started against the Blaugrana this week, the report highlights. Inter midfielder Cristiano Biraghi will start on the left side, taking priority over Austrian midfielder Valentino Lazaro.
In the midfield trio there are no changes, with Matias Vecino, Marcelo Brozovic and Borja Valero the only solid options for coach Antonio Conte, due to the list of injured midfielders unavailable for the game.
Finally, Conte’s options on the bench are even more reduced, with Antonio Candreva not joining the squad due to a back injury.
