Inter coach Antonio Conte is trusting that striker Lautaro Martinez will break his short goal drought and guide the Nerazzurri to victory tonight against Fiorentina, according to a report in today’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

The report details how the 22-year-old Argentine forward failed to score in Inter’s last two games, their goalless draw against Roma and their 2-1 defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League earlier this week. Lautaro still impressed in both games, with his strong build up play and inventive runs against the opposition’s defensive line.

Furthermore, Inter have no intention of renewing the player’s contract or changing his release clause at the moment, the report highlights. CEO Beppe Marotta will only start new contract negotiations at the end of the season, in order to avoid distracting the player and creating more discussions about him on the transfer market.

Considering his importance to the squad and the interest from top clubs around Europe, it will surely be expensive for the Nerazzurri to retain him next season.
